September 10 on 10

 (morning solo walk)
(Elias and his hippo having a chat.)
 (apple picking in our yard)

 (pears from our friends' yard)
(the exciting walk to school)
(tada! applesauce!)
(Every day after school, my kids sneak through the hedge to play or sit in the dirt next to the fence with sad puppy eyes, whispering to their friends who are doing the same thing on the other side until the moms relent.)
(Don't you break out in a jig when you discover that you and your pal have the very same hoodie?)
I wish it could be September for about 3 months. I love the crisp mornings with enough light to see by for a run or a walk. I love the bounty still coming in from the garden. I love new school clothes, new pens, and new schedules. I love the feeling of a fresh start.

first seed starts
for our daffodil hunting this season, we need only look in our backyard
(but, we'll go out looking anyway)look what I found hiding in the garden?!
gyros night!
dinner prep is more fun in a pretty apron
It was a marvelous spring day here on the palouse. The kind I was wishing for, oh, last week when it was snowing. Lots of people hate spring on the palouse because of the erratic behavior of the weather, but I'm trying to see it as an exercise in thankfulness. When those sunny days come, I try to soak in every ounce of goodness, to save up for the 37, windy and rainy days (my least favorite). Today was near perfection!

I think I may be aging prematurely. I cannot seem to remember it is the 10th of the month for the whole day. I make it several hours and then space out. So, here is a partial journal of our day.

The best part? Going with a very excited, newly 5 year old to Claire's with her gift card and to Starbuck's for a treat, just us girls. We held hands and wandered through the mall for a bit and grinned at each other over the sparkle extravaganza that is Claire's. I so love that little girl who loves pink and sparkle and all things beautiful. I just can't figure out how this tomboy, lover of turquoise and lime green, has this girl!

What fun the 10th was this month - the first day of the knitting club my friend and I have been trying to start for a year now (I took a picture on the walk, but forgot to take one of our busy hands and big mugs o' lattes) and then the annual family shopping trip that includes an early dinner at PF Chang's.
